On February 28, 2019, the PMD Foundation celebrated Rare Disease Day.

In an effort to raise awareness about rare diseases, Rare Disease Day was created by Eurordis in 2008. The main objective of Rare Disease Day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives.

As an ultra-rare genetic disease, Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease is not well known. On February 28, 2019—the 12th anniversary of Rare Disease Day—PMD families and community members banded together to show their support for PMD.

The next Rare Disease Day will take place on February 29, 2020. You can join rare disease communities across the country in promoting increased understanding and awareness of PMD.
